NHRA's revamped race coverage on FOX Sports earned more than 300,000 additional viewers through the first two events of the 2016 season.

Television viewership for the season-opening Circle K NHRA Winternationals, the CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Nationals and the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals was up 30 percent overall for Sunday’s eliminations shows and 50 percent for Saturday’s qualifying shows.

The trend continues to build on positive television viewership numbers that the NHRA Mello Yello Series saw in 2014. Bolstered by three live shows, Sunday’s eliminations shows in 2014 were up by 9 percent over the previous year.

In what should provide another sizeable boost to those viewership numbers, five Sunday eliminations programs will air live in 2015, with three on ESPN and two on ESPN2. The first live eliminations show will be this weekend’s Four-Wide NHRA Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte. Other live eliminations shows are set for Houston, Bristol, Norwalk and Chicago.

“We’re thrilled with our viewership gains in 2014 and the strong television performance we’re seeing for the start of the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello season,” said Gary Darcy, NHRA senior vice president of sales and marketing.  “With compelling action on the track and the addition of more live programming scheduled for this season we look forward to that trend continuing.”

In addition, ESPN2 will air a live qualifying show from the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at Las Vegas on April 11, which also will include live coverage of the K&N Horsepower Challenge, a bonus race for qualified Pro Stock teams.

Attendance at NHRA Mello Yello Series events continues to rise as well. Following a three year trend that started in 2012, attendance is continuing to experience growth in 2015, as each of the first three races produced attendance increases.

In a letter to their advertisers the NHRA recently stated that going forward National Dragster will make 50 percent of their editorial content about the NHRA sportsman classes, 25 percent dedicated to NHRA’s ET and bracket racers with the pro classes getting just 25 percent of the editorial content

T          Contingency Postings Swell To

        $3 Million For 2015

The International Hot Rod Association announced today that 2015 contingency postings have reached $3 million, in addition to pending commitments. The overall posting represents a double-digit increase over 2014. IHRA racers are eligible to collect contingency dollars through participation with posted products in the Nitro Jam Series, Summit Pro-Am Series presented by AMSOIL and the Summit Team Finals.

Geno Effler, who is the head of PR for NHRA stated to Hot Rod Network magazine "our television ratings this year are up, not down".

The Federal Reserve described economic activity as growing at a “solid pace,” when it convened its first policy meeting of the year. The subsequent release of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product confirmed that description. The first estimate (there are two more revisions due) of fourth quarter economic growth showed an expansion of 2.6 percent.

While the result was about a half of a percentage point shy of estimates, even with the slowdown in the fourth quarter, “the economy expanded at a 4.3 percent annualized pace during the second half of the year. That is hardly chopped liver,” according to Joel Naroff of Naroff Economic Advisors.

In fact, the bright spot of the GDP report was found in consumer spending, which grew at a better than expected 4.3 percent annualized rate in the final three months of the year, the biggest gain since the first quarter of 2006. Imagine the pace of spending that could occur if American workers get a little raise in 2015!

Marketing Package

Allow me to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Red Dragon Racing Team, an organization that can help your company get the most out of it's marketing budget. What industries and individual companies that are capitalizing on motor sports marketing have in common is the understanding that there are literally millions of consumers attending, watching, listening to, and reading about professional drag racing.

With rising attendance at racing facilities and increased television and radio exposure, many companies are finding that their company's involvement in marketing through motor sports makes very effective use of their company's dollars.

Excellent exposure of your company's name or logo is priceless. You may purchase 30 seconds of television time or buy an ad in the daily newspaper, but it is only seen one time. By sponsoring Red Dragon Racing Team, your company can reach thousands upon thousands of people throughout the year.

We will also let all of our over 30k Linkedin.com  worldwide followers know about your company.

Sponsorship of Red Dragon Team provides an exciting and effective means of marketing. The race vehicles themselves inevitably become focus of attention, creating a high visibility marketing vehicle-a rolling billboard.

Consider the impact of a company's product or name boldly emblazoned on a drag racing vehicle. Add team members outfitted in uniforms identifying your name and product, a line of team and sponsor apparel made available to fans, a traveling transport rig with full color sponsor identification. These are the building blocks of a successful promotion utilizing team sponsorship of Red Dragon.

We would welcome the opportunity to create a
custom proposal for you. In order to do so, we will need to spend some time talking about your business and marketing objectives.

Thank you
